One significant visible distinction of Primo is the use of stations. Whereas VIA’s
buses typically pick up riders at small stops placed frequently along a route, Primo
stations are larger and spaced further apart.
Along the Primo route will be two large terminals – the South Texas Medical
Center Transit Center and the Westside Multimodal Transit Center.
The South Texas Medical Center Transit Center
This 7.51 acre site is located at the corner of Medical Drive and Babcock Road.
The station will serve as a transit center for the Primo route as well as a major transfer
hub for many of VIA bus routes.

Features of the South Texas Medical Center Transit Center
- Staffed ticket/information center
- Comfortable enclosed waiting area
- Real-time travel information
- On-site security
- Bike racks
The Westside Multimodal Transit Center
Just west of downtown San Antonio is the proposed Westside Multimodal Transit Center.
Just as the name implies, this facility will offer seamless travel connections for
several modes of transportation in addition to Primo including the much
anticipated Austin-San Antonio commuter rail, inter-city bus lines, and taxi services.
The Westside Multimodal Trasit Center also has great potential to stimulate economic
development on the near-west side.
Bus Rapid Transit Stations
Between the two major terminals along the line will be 8 Primo stations in each direction.
These stations will look much different than VIA’s standard bus stops. Each station
will have passenger waiting platforms and real-time “next bus” information displays.
The design of the stations will maintain a consistent look while fitting into the
character of the unique neighborhoods in which they are located. Some stations may
incorporate public art in the design.
